On Wednesday, Webb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop during a follow up narcotics investigation at the 4900 block of Zapata Highway.
The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Mercado, 34, was found in possession of 20 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of $2,000. He also was found with 27 grams of heroin with an estimated value of $2,200 and 8 grams of crack cocaine with an estimated value of $800.
Mercado was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, felony 1 and one count of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, felony 1.
Mercado was transported without bond to the Webb County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
